Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba kicked off the New Year with a powerful message for 2021 and the UAE’s upcoming Golden Jubilee. Reflecting on 2020, he echoed how the coronavirus pandemic has built a greater international community and connection. Inspired by frontline healthcare workers, he paid special tribute to the Emirati doctors and medical professionals that stayed in the US to treat the influx of COVID-19 patients. With this positive outlook, Ambassador Al Otaiba went on to recap the UAE’s biggest contributions and achievements of 2020. This included the UAE’s international efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, including airlift operations that delivered essential medical supplies to over 50 countries worldwide. He also praised the historic formation of the accords, which normalized diplomatic Emirati and Israeli dealings for the first time in a quarter century. As the UAE approaches its Golden Jubilee celebration, he called attention to several upcoming initiatives including the construction of the Abrahamic Family House in the UAE capital, the completion of the Emirates Mars Mission and the opening of the World Expo in Dubai. Dedicated to fulfilling the UAE’s vision for 2021, the Ambassador vowed to work side by side with the US to advance science, technology, sustainable development, women’s empowerment and more. Optimistic about the future, he concluded his message by wishing everyone a safe holiday season and a happy New Year.
